News Flash! This just in from the MOB world headquarters based in Winston-Salem, NC….. there’s a massive itch spreading around the shop here and the only cure is Cross. Believe it, the beginning of your long awaited glorious cyclocross season is merely a month away. It’s time for a little redemption from all of those times you got dropped like a bowling ball from that crit in the middle of the summer when it was 98 degrees, remember that, we do. Time to take out all of your frustrations and show your closest friends how you really feel.

We’ve been working hard around here trying to get things organized for the upcoming season and the pieces are falling into place. Check out our new CROSS 2010 web page for details on upcoming training races in September at SECCA. Also keep checking back for updates to the 2010 www.mockorangecross.com website as there will be a full schedule, photos and results from all of our training races as well as the NCCX series. MOB DOES ORAMM!

This past weekend was the 11th Annual Offroad Assault on Mt. Mitchell mountain bike ride and MOB was there to see what all the hoopla was about. Among the ravenous pack of offroad, beer drinking, thrill seeking sadists were our local shop wrench turners Chucky Love and B-Nice. What was anticipated by some to be a nice little stroll through the beautiful back-country hills of North Carolina quickly turned into a severe beating that lasted nearly 7 hours.

The ride started at 8:00am in beautiful Old Fort, NC. Within minutes this glorious ride turned into a mad dash up a 5 mile paved climb to the start of some of the most technical singletrack in NC.

Our good buddy Aaron “Awesome” Dawson rolling right on through looking tough as nails wondering why Brad is laying in the middle of the road with his shoes off.

At some point Chucky Love decided to take a snooze in the creek to take the edge off. Charles is an experienced creek dozer, do not try this at home.

B-nice, finishing well ahead of the first place rider with a time of 2 hours and 40 minutes which would have been a course record had he ridden the entire loop; slightly defeated but well within his element.

It’s that time again folks! Actually we’re a little late, but we still want to recognize the MOB Rider of the week. This week the Grand Prize goes to Anitra Mitchell of Winston-Salem, NC. Anitra was nice enough to join us on our insanely popular Tuesday night special this past week and was lucky enough to have her photo taken by one of our undercover field operatives. Cycle For Life 2010!

Mock Orange Bikes is pleased to announce the Cycle for Life 2010 Ride. It is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Hanover Park Vineyard in Yadkinville, N.C. This is an amazing event, held a an awesome venue and supports a really good cause. The ride is presented by the North Carolina Stroke Association and helps save lives by promoting awareness and education when it comes Stroke Prevention. MOB Rider of the week!

We are starting something new here at the Shop, it’s the “MOB Rider of the Week” folks! As many of you know we have a crazy popular Tuesday night beginner ride that winds it’s way through the beautiful streets of Winston-Salem. In an effort to make this an even more enjoyable afternoon delight we are picking a rider of the week each Tuesday. Throughout the course of the ride we will have an undercover field operative taking action shots of riders as they pass by. Once the action shots are compiled we will have a panel of experts determine which photo will be deemed the “MOB Rider of the Week.” To find out if you made the headlines check out our website every Wednesday Morning as the lucky photo will be posted there (www.mockorangebikes.com). If you have been selected by our judges as the “MOB Rider of the Week” you will be rewarded with a free MOB T-shirt! All YOU have to do is show up and ride!

Pegoretti meets Di2….

Every now and then here at the ole bike shop we get to put together some ultra fresh and unique bikes that you don’t typically see on your average Saturday morning hammerfest. Thanks to David Cossman, such was the case last week when we were lucky enough to assemble a Pegoretti Marcelo (that’s custom painted Italian steel folks) with a new Electronic Dura-Ace gruppo. Check this thing out….. There’s definitely a sense of odd gratification in combining a classic Italian chassis with modern electronic componentry.

IBIS DEMO DAY

Come out and try a sweet carbon Ibis mountain bike from 2:00pm – 7:00pm at Hobby Park in Winston-Salem. Ever wonder what a long travel Carbon XC mountain bike feels like on the trail?
